  after all is this indie dubstep tracks ? if you can bring in respected artists from differnt genres to judge some genre competitions then think about it...... those winning mixes can be promoted.. not just the main one like hiphop etc.. but even world music etc... famous artists as judges .. competitions and focus can be given to many genres not just what people see on the top of the most popular .. ok it may cost some money you dont have but i guarantee some would agree to do it for free - ok thnx

  even new users can get massive amounts of likes/plays if they chose something which is more prevalent on 8tracks eg, indie, dubstep and they probably spam it hardcore through their social networks.. i think give an emphasis to quality and variety there needs to be a new way to promote original mixes, not necessarily 'the same old popular thing' taking over..

  I disagree with your solution 8 tracks. There needs to be a catalog of all time most popular mixes. A truly good playlist is timeless. More people need to hear good music and not just the popular songs of the moment. If you had an all-time popular playlists more people will continue to select the truly great playlists thus more people will focus on the groove/vibe that a great playlist gives them and not all of these "popular radio" and new dubstep mixtapes(not that there is anything wrong with a truly great dupstep mix) that just focus on individual songs to make up the strength of the mixtape as a whole. This is unfortunate because in a truly great playlist the whole is greater than the sum of its parts.These mixes hog most of the real estate as far as what space you have now given to the last 31 days popular mixes. It is much too difficult to quickly find an awesome mix. They are replaced on the main page too quickly for many people to experience the truly great mixes.
