add an About and a FAQ in the main window. planned
Agree we need to add an FAQ. We're beginning to build that based on comments through UserVoice.
The About section is linked from the bottom of every page.

Offer a native iPhone app planned
Like the Pandora or Last.fm apps. I would listen to 8tracks all day long.

Show last updated date for playlist instead of date created planned
This makes total sense. I think we'll display both creation date and last update to the mix. Thanks.

Problem uploading in Japanese planned
Thanks for noting our lack of support for Japanese and other characters. We currently only support latin1 as our character set, that means english and latin languages work fine.

We feel very strongly about other languages though so we're going to implement Unicode support as soon as possible, it's a pretty large task, so hopefully around October.

Switch from private mix to pubic mix planned
Somehow my mix was changed to "private mix" although I didn't select any such setting. I'm looking all over for a way to switch back and cannot find it - either it's not a feature, hidden in the UI, or I'm a dork and can't find it.
We'll be rolling out a few additional changes in this area later this week. This should solve many (and hopefully all) of the problems people are experiencing.

view tracks I've stared planned
I like music and wouldn't mind paying for albumns I like. However, am I'm listening to songs at work and can only spare time enough to star a song before someone is over my shoulder.
anyway, to see a list of recently stared songs that had affiliate links to amazon or iTunes or something might be nice for you to get extra revenue$ and so i can remember the name of the new band i just heard
We have part of this in place now; you can see all the tracks you've added as favorites (with star button) on the Favorites tab within the Create Mix section.
We'll be adding 2 additional features to support this, along the lines you suggest:
* Amazon buy links next to all tracks, coming likely in January

Add alert feature when someone comments on your mix planned
You should add a feature that alerts you when someone comments on your mix
Thanks for this, much appreciated. Agree 100% on your suggestion: making it easy for DJs to get comments across mixes is a great idea. We're adding a page for this next week, including RSS feed and, shortly, email notification. Stay tuned!

Add your favourit Mix to a Playlist planned
So you don't have to care about your Music every half an hour.
We're intending to allow both DJ and listener to create a "station" (a mix of mixes, in a sense). We want to give each DJ the ability to pick the next mix to follow one of his own. This would serve as the default "next mix" for a listener.
In addition, we'd like to allow listeners to create a "listening queue" of mixes they want to check out. They can then listen to these, one after the next and re-arrange as they see fit.

No recent mixes in search results planned
Recent mixes (newer than approx. 2 weeks) aren't turning up in search results it seems. Bug?
We've added a bug ticket for this - thanks for pointing out. This should be resolved in a week or 2.

let me star or bookmark entire mixes so I can replay later planned
If we get enough feedback on this point, we may add it. We included this in our alpha version of our site but then decided to simplify b/c we had similar functionality for both "favoriting" tracks and following DJs.
At a minimum, we'll add a mix history ("mix scrobbling" in a sense) so that you can see what you've tuned into in the past.

We'll add RSS on the Comment page soon, followed by an email digest option (e.g. 1 email per day with all new comments).

Notify me when a comment of mine has been replied to planned
I'd like to have conversations on others' mixes but I can't remember to check each every time. An e-mail notification would be appreciated.
Love this idea. We've talked of adding this to one's Comments page, such that *anyone* who responds to another's comment (e.g. via @[username]) would see this in that comments feed. Adding to our product roadmap.

RSS Feeds! - to follow a particular user's new mixes planned
similar to the new mix feed - but for individual users and in RSS so I can track it in my reader.

Charts planned
add all kind of mixtape charts, like most popolar, most play, most commented..
We're going to create MIX charts, in effect, by giving listeners better sorting options on the homepage, along the lines you suggest.
We'll likely offer some kind of charts based on TRACKS down the road, and then make these available via RSS.

volume control planned
a volume control on the player would be nice.
I know this is sorely needed (esp for listening on headphones) and we'll be adding a volume control to our "thick" player coming in a month or 2.

allow user to delete their uploaded songs planned
I understand that perhaps you haven't included this option because other users are allowed to use songs that one uploads. However, a user should still be able to delete songs they have uploaded. Perhaps they accidentally uploaded a poor version of a song, or maybe they just decided don't want the song available to anybody else anymore (especially if it's an original recording), or maybe they want to quit using your site altogether and delete all of their mixes. If you wanted to dissuade them from deleting a song, perhaps you could offer a warning if the song is in somebody else's mix. But the option to delete a song should still be available to the user who was the original uploader; it's only fair.
Agree, and we'll be adding this functionality.

keep the list of songs you've listened to from the mix planned
the list of songs you've listened to from a mix stays until you decide to travel around the site. when you go back to the mix, the list is gone.
This is an issue. We will try to solve this ASAP.

Fave Mixes planned
Add the ability to fave an entire mix. I see that I can fave a user or an individual song, but I can't seem to fave a mix, which (unless I'm really confused) is a glaring omission...

parsing id3 tag data not functioning correctly with mp3 uploaded. can provide you with some code to fix this if necessary ;)

let me preview songs in my list before saving planned
I want to be able to upload songs and then listen to them to move them around so they flow better.
Do you mean from the right column on the 8tracks.com/selection screen (what you get to when you click "Create Mix" at top of page)? You can stream full tracks from the left column.

make a form to directly email someone a mix planned
it would be nice if I could simply email a few people a direct link to a mix.
Each mix is represented by a unique mixpage; you can cut-and-paste the URL of that mixpage into an email to tell people about a mix you like.
In addition, we'll soon be adding a form so you (as mix creator) can instantly send a short email to a set of friends upon completion of a mix.
We could also add an automated share-by-email option (e.g. a field in which a registered user can enter a set of email addresses, with "Send to friends" button).
