Tweak Search functionality
Minor issue but caused me to think that search was broken for about a half hour. If you search for something with a lot of options (say "The Beatles") then click Next a few times (say you're on the fifth page), you'll remain on the fifth page on all future searches until you change it (ie if you then search for something specific, like "Bob Dylan Ballad of a Thin Man" you'll still be on page five and will get a message saying "No results" when there are results, they're just on the first page).
It seems to me that each time the query is changed the User should be invisibly returned to page 1 of the search results.
PS This complaint is very minor - 8tracks in general is excellent!

Allow configuring profile
I'd like to be able to author a short headline for my profile, rather than use the defualt "<username>'s mixes. Maybe that could be a defualt but I'd like more control of the profile page.
Basic profile theming would be nice to have. Maybe this could have about the same level of configurability as a tumblr page.

Incorporate a lyrics finder
Click a button in a window to the right, and the song lyrics appear courtesy of a google search or some other functionality.
Since most of the music we listen to on this site will be new to the listener, this would help them get even more from the experience.

Add a "Number of times used" feature to tracks
When listening to a mix, it would be cool to get some stats on how often in the whole 8tracks universe that track was used. If it then allowed listeners to leap to a new mix featuring the same song, you'd have an additional feature to encourage people hopping around and exploring.

allow gapless playback
Gapless playback would be nice if you've put together a mix using Mixmeister or similar software (as I have) - I realise this isn't really feasible with a streaming service like this so what about being able to upload less than eight tracks - i.e. one track-at-once? Or is this beyond what 8tracks was set up to do?

turn off shuffle
My mix was set up to run in a specific order but it comes out shuffled each time - is it possible to turn off the option to shuffle mixes, or is that even supposed to happen?
Sorry for this, I know the randomization is annoying.
Currently, every listener gets the correct/intended order when he or she first tunes into a mix. On the 2nd listen, the ordering gets randomized.
I've been working with our legal counsel to try to find a better way to meet the requirements of the compulsory license (as exposur3 notes above).

Can we have an adjustable crossfader facility?
Even if we can't keep the same order as sequenced by the dj, it would be nice to have a cross fade facility to blend tracks together with a setable duration(like on Microsoft Media Player) to keep that 'radio' feel.
Agree! That's a great idea, C. We've talked about this a little bit internally. It's not easy, but we should be able to figure it out. Makes everything a bit more polished.

Sort it so that tracks play in the order they are chosen in.
I uploaded and selected songs for my mix in a particular order, but when you play the mix, they pop up in a random order. Would it be possible to ensure they play in the desired order?
I realize this sucks -- the sequence of a playlist is an essential part of the value of the playlist as a whole. What currently happens is a listener will hear the CORRECT order the first time he/she tunes in. If he/she then tunes in a 2nd time, then the order is randomized.
I'm working with our legal counsel to figure out a better way to meet the requirements of the compulsory license without having to force randomization.

let me star or bookmark entire mixes so I can replay later planned
If we get enough feedback on this point, we may add it. We included this in our alpha version of our site but then decided to simplify b/c we had similar functionality for both "favoriting" tracks and following DJs.
At a minimum, we'll add a mix history ("mix scrobbling" in a sense) so that you can see what you've tuned into in the past.

volume control planned
a volume control on the player would be nice.
I know this is sorely needed (esp for listening on headphones) and we'll be adding a volume control to our "thick" player coming in a month or 2.

view tracks I've stared planned
I like music and wouldn't mind paying for albumns I like. However, am I'm listening to songs at work and can only spare time enough to star a song before someone is over my shoulder.
anyway, to see a list of recently stared songs that had affiliate links to amazon or iTunes or something might be nice for you to get extra revenue$ and so i can remember the name of the new band i just heard
We have part of this in place now; you can see all the tracks you've added as favorites (with star button) on the Favorites tab within the Create Mix section.
We'll be adding 2 additional features to support this, along the lines you suggest:
* Amazon buy links next to all tracks, coming likely in January

Allow for email notification when someone comments on mix
We're about to introduce a dedicated page that presents all comments on a DJ's mixes, in reverse-chron order. A DJ can then subscribe to these comments via RSS, and we'll soon allow you to do likewise via email (individually or in a daily/weekly "digest").

History of previous mixtapes listened/browsed
A little minimal history bar above the player of previous mixtapes visited/listened would be nice. Sometimes you want to go back to the previous more favorable mixtape but don't want to fight with the back button on the browser.
Agree this is a good idea, esp since we don't have a "favorite" button for mixes. Have added to product roadmap. Thanks for suggestion.

allow user to delete their uploaded songs planned
I understand that perhaps you haven't included this option because other users are allowed to use songs that one uploads. However, a user should still be able to delete songs they have uploaded. Perhaps they accidentally uploaded a poor version of a song, or maybe they just decided don't want the song available to anybody else anymore (especially if it's an original recording), or maybe they want to quit using your site altogether and delete all of their mixes. If you wanted to dissuade them from deleting a song, perhaps you could offer a warning if the song is in somebody else's mix. But the option to delete a song should still be available to the user who was the original uploader; it's only fair.
Agree, and we'll be adding this functionality.

Show sites linking to your mix
Youtube has an option where you can view all of the websites embedding or linking to your video and i think this would be great for 8tracks

add an About and a FAQ in the main window. planned
Agree we need to add an FAQ. We're beginning to build that based on comments through UserVoice.
The About section is linked from the bottom of every page.

keep the site simple and aesthetically pleasing
So far you're doing a hell of a job. I'd really hate to see a bunch of customizable clutter wreak havoc upon my eyes like every other myspace page already does.
Don't worry, we will NOT do this. The goal of 8tracks is to accomplish one specific thing -- sharing a mix -- in a simple, legal and clutter-free way. If a DJ wants to add his mix to another site (customized Myspace page or blog), we currently or soon will provide a way to do that.

make an iphone friendly page
I just got an iphone and am digging pandora type sites. I rarely sit in front of my computer longer than a half hour at a time but I do use my iphone almost all day for music while i am working. I would prefer this site for my tunes.
We're developing an iPhone application.
Currently, we use a Flash player on the website, and the iPhone doesn't support Flash. If we were to abandon Flash, we could make iPhone friendly page.
